The Mystery of the Missing Computer

By Joel

Someone had been breaking into our school. At first they started taking small things. That was upsetting to us. However, now they were stealing science equipment and computers. Our detective club felt this had gone far enough. We liked science and technology and we believed we knew who the thief was. Our detective club thought it might be the new janitor. The old one had retired. He was really nice and everyone trusted him. Since the new janitor had been working, things in the school were missing. One teacher thought she saw the janitor taking some things. The janitor tried to get her into trouble with the principal. Our detective club had a plan. After school we would leave the school and then go back in while the janitor was not looking. Now it was night. We were hiding behind cabinets. We had video cameras to see if it was the new janitor. We were very quiet. Then someone walked in the one room where things were being taken. He had a hood over his head. We saw him take some microchips and some science chemicals. Before we could turn on our video cameras, he heard us. We ran after him. Then we pulled the fire alarm. The police came, but they didn't catch him. We put sensors inside the computers and a camera in the classroom. The janitor came in one night and tried to take a computer. When he picked up the computer, the sensor sent a message to the police and to our club. Then we caught him. We were heroes.
